(Driving while intoxicated) the operation of a motor vehicle while intoxicated (under the influence of alcohol to the point of impaired control over one’s conscious faculties).   In Pennsylvania, an impaired person’s blood-alcohol concentration is 0.08 percent or above (0.01 percent for a minor). This term also covers driving while under the influence of drugs.

Driving under the influence (DUI) is the offense of driving, operating, or being in control of a vehicle while impaired by alcohol or other drugs (including recreational drugs and those prescribed by physicians), to a level that renders the driver incapable of operating a motor vehicle safely.
